ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s newly appointed Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa had met foreign envoys from China, US and Europe discussing subjects ranging from a ‘Green Economy’ to liquefied natural gas, a statement said.
Rajapaksa had said under the current economic strategy Sri Lanka was keen to develop a ‘green economy’ using renewable energy and minimizing fuel use in transport.
US Ambassador Alaina Teplitz had talked about investing in LNG power,
UN High commissioner Sarah Hulton had discussed the central expressway.
Indian Gopal Baglay had discussed bi-lateral trade.
Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong had discussed Coronavirus vaccines and expressed the hope that the economy would come to normal soon.
German Ambassador Holger Lothar Seubert had offered to improve technical training and investments into small and medium industries.
Russian ambassador Yuri B Materiy had discussed vaccination and the possibility of joint manufacture.
He had also met Ambassador Denis Chaibi, who represents the EU. (Colombo/July16/2021)
