Sri Lanka finds 13 safe houses, arrests 56 linked to terror bombings: President
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has found 13 safe houses and arrested 56 persons linked to Easter Sunday terror bombings, as well as material to build more bombs, President Maithripala Sirisena has said.
About 12 of those arrested were hardcore members of the organization, President Sirisena told parliament.
He said 103 detonators, 236 gelegnite sticks and 250 kilograms of powder which could be used to built bombs had been uncovered by security forces.
President Sirisena said 41 bank accounts, houses, and assets belonging to the suicide bombers had been confiscated.
Authorities have also taken 15 motor vehicles and four motorcycles into custody. (Colombo/May07/2019-SB)
