COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said he hoped parliament would be dissolved today.
"Only President and God knows, but I hope parliament will be dissolved within a matter of hours not days," he told reporters in Colombo.
Samaraweera’s United National Party has been urging President Maithripala Sirisena to dissolve parliament quickly as political uncertainty spreads.
His comments came as Sri Lanka’s rupee is also coming under pressure from nakedly populist policies and low interest rates.
