Sri Lanka gets UNIDO support for industrial parks, waste management
EconomyNext – The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) said it will help Sri Lanka set up industrial parks and support projects covering climate change, chemical and waste management and leather processing.
The announcement was made by UNIDO Director General Li Yong during talks with Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen in Colombo Thursday.
Yong said UNIDO has implemented 89 projects and programs in Sri Lanka so far during its 40 years in Sri Lanka and wants to expand support to the island’s industrial sector.
Bathiudeen said UNIDO should set up a fully-fledged country office in Sri Lanka, a ministry statement said.
