Sri Lanka lifts daytime curfews in Kaluthara and Puttalam districts

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has lifted a daytime Coronavirus curfew in Kaluthara and Puttalam districts from May 11, the President’s office said.

Daytime curfews will continue in Colombo and Gampaha but state offices and businesses will operate with minimal staff.

“In the two districts of Colombo and Gampaha curfew will be in force until further notice,” the President’s office said.

“In other districts including Kalutara and Puttalam curfew will be effective only from 8.00 pm to 5.00 am daily from tomorrow, Monday, May 11th until further notice.”

“Resumption of civilian life and work while curfew is in force in the districts of Colombo and Gampaha will commence tomorrow, May 11th as previously scheduled.

Sri Lanka’s police had issued updated guidelines for various businesses on when to operate during curfew and the health ministry had issued guidelines for various industry sectors. (Colombo/May11/2020)
