Sri Lanka lures Indian amusement industry
COLOMBO, Dec 10, 2014 (EconomyNext) – An Indian amusement industry delegation will be in Colombo Wednesday exploring opportunities to set up film production units and academies and amusement parks.
A 15-member team are on a three day visit to Sri Lanka to find potential local partners to set up facilities in the island, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, which is organising the visit, said in a statement.
The delegation members, who are members of the Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI), are looking to set up amusement parks, theme parks, water parks, film academies, film production units and get themeing consultancy work.
They will meet local businessmen involved in infrastructure, real estate, hospitality, resort chains, and amusement and the entertainment industries.
“Tourism is the core growth sector of Sri Lanka and developing an amusement park industry will compliment this very growth, attracting more tourists by offering more excitement and entertainment,” said Yogesh Dange, President of IAAPI, who is heading the delegation.
