Sri Lanka military roadblocks in the north cleared by police
ECONOMYNEXT – Roadblocks set up by the military in the northern Jaffna peninsular have been cleared, police said.
There were some roadblocks set up by the military but police had intervened to clear them, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekera said in an interview with MTV, a private television station.
Sri Lanka’s police is operating under the independent elections commission.
Police have deployed over 30,000 personnel for elections duty. There were around 3,000 officers on mobile patrols, he said.
