Sri Lanka ministers get limos at Rs. 100,000 for vote campaign
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s ministers, the former opposition leader and ex-presidents will have to pay 100,000 rupees a month to use their official vehicles for campaigning, Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said.
The cabinet ministers had decided Wednesday that ministers and ex-leaders will have to pay 100,000 per each vehicle used in political work, he told reporters in Colombo.
Sri Lanka has around 100 ministers who are given limos ranging from BMWs to Mercedes Benz as official vehicles.
Karunanayake himself handed over the keys of his two officials vehicles the finance ministry earlier this week.
