Sri Lanka nationwide inflation picks up to 4.7-pct in September
ECONOMYNEXT – Nationwide inflation in Sri Lanka in September 2016 picked up to 4.7% from 4.5% in August, on a year-on-year basis, the Department of Census and Statistics said.
The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) rose 0.2% to 113.5 index points in September 2016 after falling in the two previous months.
The uptick in the NCPI came from both the rise in prices of food commodities and non-food items, a statement said.
The moving average inflation for the month of September 2016 was 3.8%, up from 3.6% in August 2016.
