The decrease observed in year-on-year National Consumer Price Index compiled by the Department of Census and Statistics was driven by the decrease of prices of items in both Food and Non-food categories.

A statement said year-on-year Food inflation decreased to -4.5 per cent in December 2018 from -3.9 per cent in November 2018 while year-on-year Non-food inflation also decreased from 5.2 per cent in November 2018 to 4.7 per cent in December 2018.
