COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s new administration suffered its first parliamentary setback with Rajiva Wijesinghe, who was a minister, crossing the floor protesting against draft constitutional changes.
Wijesinghe slammed the draft proposals and said the administration was not acting according to promises made in its manifesto.
Wijesinghe crossed the floor of the parliament to the opposition.
The Ranil Wickramasinghe administration is dependent on the votes of the main opposition Sri Lanka Freedom Party to pass bills.
