Sri Lanka opens Coronavirus hotlines for public information
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has opened hotlines staffed by medical professionals around the clock to provide scientific information and latest updates on the global Coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic a top health official said.
“There is a lot of misinformation being spread using mobile phones,” Director General of Health Services Anil Jasinghe told reporters in Colombo.
“We have hotlines staffed by two doctors who can give you the correct information.”
The two hotline numbers are as follows.

Uncertainty has spread in Sri Lanka after the first local, a tour guide working with a group of Italian tourists was found to have been infected with COVID19.
Jasinghe said the family of the patient are self-quarantined at home and the driver of the vehicle was also similarly at his residence where there was no one.
Sri Lanka is not advocating everyone to wears masks but anyone with a respiratory illness can wear a mask he said.
People are asked to wash hands frequently, not touch the mouth, eyes or nose.
Also, Jasinghe that when considering the total number of patients reported all around the world being infected with COVID-19, over 80% of them are over the age of 60 or affected with some condition.
