Sri Lanka plans sovereign bond this year
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka expects to sell a sovereign bond before the end of the year and a billion dollar loan from China Development Bank is expected to come within a week, Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy said.
Sri Lanka wants to go for a sovereign bond as soon as possible before the US hikes rates and interest rates go up, he said.
Sri Lanka also expects to sell a 250 million dollar Panda (Yuan) bond and 250 million dollar Samurai (Yen) bond this year he said.
Governor Coomaraswamy said the volume of the International Sovereign Bond had not been decided, but bond dollar markets are much more liquid that Yuan and Yen markets, he said. (Colombo/Oct02/2018)
