Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna wins Elpitiya local election

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has won a local government body in Elpitiya in Sri Lanka’s South returning 17 out of 29 members.

The SLPP got 23,372 votes or 56.3 percent of 41,503 valid votes. The United National Party polled 10,113 or 24.3 percent returning 7 members.

The United National People’s Alliance won 5,273 or 12.7 percent, returning 3 members.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna polled 2,435 votes or 5.8 percent, returning 2 members.
