Sri Lanka police arrests two suspects over fake curfew-violation video

ECONOMYNEXT – Two suspects were arrested in connection with a video that falsely claimed a mosque in Beruwala had violated Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 curfew regulations, police said.
The video, which has been circulating on social media, alleged that an event was held in the mosque is fake, said DIG Ajith Rohana.
A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigation based on the video revealed that the alleged event was held many months before the date it was claimed to have happened, he said.
The two suspects were arrested in Beruwala yesterday evening and will be produced before courts today ,he added. (Colombo/Mar30/2020)
