Sri Lanka police station snared in Covid cluster
ECONOMYNEXT – A police station in Minuwangoda, a town at the centre of a Coronavirus cluster had been caught up in an expanding Covid-19 cluster the all officers being subjected to Coronavirus tests.
A relief team from other police stations would be sent to take over activities at the police station, a senior police official said.
The police station was caught in the growing cluster after a family member of a Coronavirus patient who was working at the canteen had tested positive for Coronavirus.
Health authorities had completed test of all employees of a Brandix apparel factory in Minuwangoda and are now testing their contacts and others from the community, the state information office said.
Sri Lanka had confirmed over 1033 patients lined to the Minuwangoda apparel factory and several towns in the Gampaha district are under curfew.
The public has been asked to limit movements and wear masks as authorities track down contacts.
