ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena has asked people to go to vote on November 16 to elect a president without fear, saying security has been provided for their safety.
In a country where democracy has been strengthened it is a right and also a duty to vote for the person of their choice, President Sirisena said in a statement.
He asked people not be misled by rumours and asked citizens go to their polling stations, and vote.
President said security has been given with police and military.
A record number of candidates and contesting in the 2019 presidential elections.
