Sri Lanka President calls for national government

COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena invited all political parties to form a national government in an address on Sunday.

"I invite all parties to join us in a national government," he said from the historic Temple of the Tooth in Kandy.

He planned to reduce the unlimited powers of the presidency and give them back to the parliament, the cabinet, the public service and judiciary he said.

He also wanted to improve the freedoms of all Sri Lankan and create country people of all religions and races could live freely.
