Sri Lanka President to address business forum at Commonwealth meet
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena has arrived in London for the 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where he will also address a business forum, his office said.
President Sirisena and Mrs Sirisena was welcomed by Sri Lanka’s High Commission in London with offerings of betel leaves and flowers by children on April 16. The summit will continue till April 21.
This year’s summit will be held on the theme ‘Towards a Common Future’ focussing on prosperity, security, fairness and sustainability to achieve the goals of Commonwealth countries.
President Sirisena will address the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and will also deliver a speech on achieving sustainable development goals.
He will also meet UK Prime Minister Theresa May, who will take over as the Chair-in-office of the grouping from the Prime Minister of Malta, until the next meet at 2020. (Colombo/May15/2018)
