Sri Lanka President to meet all parties
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena will meet all party leaders on Sunday in a bid to resolve a worsening political crisis triggered by the appointment of ex-President Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.
The meeting is aimed at ending the conflicts in parliament, and allowing it to function, the President’s office said in a statement.
Legislators loyal to Mahinda Rajapaksa disrupted parliament twice, as no confidence motions were passed against him.
President Sirisena and Rajapaksa has said that they do not accept the votes of no-confidence. (Colombo/Nov18/2018)
