Sri Lanka probes fraud involving England tour cash
ECONOMYNEXT – Police on Monday began investigating Sri Lanka Cricket following a complaint of a massive fraud involving cash for television rights of England’s tour next month.
Sri Lanka Cricket said they lodged a complaint of fraud involving the $5.5 million, but they managed to prevent any cash being taken out.
Detectives from the police Financial Crimes Investigation Department began investigating the finance section of SLC, police sources said.
"The fraudulent act was found, before it was executed through bogus means," the SLC said in a statement adding that it had begun an audit of accounts following the discovery.
The Official sources said the $5.5 million was for television rights for the up coming England tour of Sri Lanka involving five ODI matches, a lone T20 and three Tests between October 10 and November 27. (COLOMBO, Sept 10, 2018)
