Sri Lanka Rs3bn tech campus building deal goes to Maga-ICC

ECONOMYNEXT – A contract to build Faculty of Computing and Technology at Sri Lanka’s University of Kelaniya for three billion rupees has been awarded to Maga-ICC joint venture, the state information office said.

The cabinet of minister had approved the award of the building contract for 3,032.7 million rupees without tax.

The faculty is part of an Asian Development Bank funded program to upgrade science and technology human resources in the country.

Sri Lanka is trying to improve the quality and employability of state university graduates.

Many state university graduates go on fasts in front the capital Colombo’s main railway station demanding lifetime jobs at tax payer expense after earning degree also at tax payer expense.

Sri Lanka has a bloated public service partly due to absorbing graduates who do not want to work in productive sectors. (Colombo/July13/2020)
