Sri Lanka rupee closes weaker, bond yields down
ECONOMYMEXT- Sri Lanka rupee closed weaker at 185.20/30 Wednesday from yesterday’s closing while bond yields were marginally down, dealers said.
The rupee closed at 185.05/20 to the greenback on Tuesday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 105.07 billion rupees, down from 104.24 billion rupees yesterday.
Banks deposited 109.14 billion rupees in Central Bank’s excess liquidity window.
In the secondary government securities market, yields were down marginally in active trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 10.08.2021 was quoted 6.90/05 percent on Wednesday, unchanged from Tuesday’s close.
A new 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted 7.70/77 percent, down from yesterday’s close at 7.75/79 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted at 7.75/82 percent, down from 7.78/82 percent on Tuesday.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 8.30/35 percent Wednesday, down from 8.35/40 percent at the previous day’s end.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2027 was quoted at 8.80/85 percent, stable from 8.80/85 percent previous close.
