Sri Lanka rupee ends firmer, gilt yields flat
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee closed stronger at 181.70/80 to the US dollar on Monday slightly firmer by fifteen cents, while bond yields remained unchanged, brokers and dealers said.
Sri Lanka rupee closed 181.95/182.10 to the greenback on Friday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 18.41 billion rupees, up from 7.95 billion rupees at Friday’s close.
Central Bank injected 14.30 billion rupees at 7.55 percent in a reverse repo auction.
In the secondary market, yields were flat in dull market trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 closed unchanged at 8.63/70 percent on Monday.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 closed at 9.55/65 percent, up from 9.52/62 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 remained flat at 9.95.00 percent.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 closed flat at 10.67/72 percent. (Colombo/Oct21/2019)
