Sri Lanka rupee ends firmer, gilt yields stable

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee closed firmer at 180.50/60 to the US dollar on Monday while bond yields remained unchanged, brokers and dealers said.

The rupee closed at 181.05/20 against the greenback on Friday.

In the overnight money market, liquidity was 19.42 billion rupees, up from 15.59 billion rupees at Friday’s close.

In the secondary bond market, yields were flat in dull trade, dealers said.

A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 remained unchanged at 8.65/75 on Monday from Friday’s close.

A bond maturing on 15.07.2023 closed flat at 9.60/70 percent.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 10.00/10.05 percent, steady from previous close.

A bond maturing on 15.10.2027 closed at 10.27/32 percent, stable from Friday.

A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 closed flat at 10.60/70. (Colombo/Nov04/2019)
