Sri Lanka rupee ends weaker, gilt yields marginally down

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee closed weaker at 184.30/40 to the US dollar on Tuesday while bond yields came off marginally, dealers said.

The rupee closed at 184.15/25 against the greenback on Monday.

In the secondary securities market, bond yields were steady while the overall the market was active, dealers said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 closed at 5.57/62 per cent on Tuesday, steady from 5.58/62 per cent at Monday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 closed at 5.60/68 per cent on Tuesday, steady from 5.62/65 per cent at the last closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 6.07/12 per cent, falling from 6.12/6.25 per cent at the previous closing.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 closed at 6.35/40 per cent, down from 6.40/45 per cent at the last closing.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 closed at 6.60/65 per cent from the previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 closed at 6.88/95 per cent on Tuesday, steady from 6.90/95 per cent at the previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 closed at 7.10/18 per cent on Tuesday unchanged from the previous day’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 closed at 7.30/50 per cent, down from 7.35/45 per cent at the previous day’s end. (Colombo/October13/2020)
