Sri Lanka rupee ends weaker, gilt yields unchanged
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s rupee ended weaker at 180.35/45 on Thursday while bond yields remained unchanged, dealers said.
The rupee closed at 180.25/35 to the greenback on Wednesday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 12.49 billion rupees, up from 7.40 billion rupees at Wednesday’s close.
Central Bank injected 14.50 billion rupees at 7.53 percent in an overnight repo auction.
In the secondary bond market, yields were stable in dull trade ahead of the elections, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 closed at 8.70/85 percent on Thursday, unchanged from Wednesday’s close.
A bond maturing on 15.07.2023 closed flat at 9.68/78 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 10.05/09 percent, up from 10.02/10.10 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2027 remained unchanged at 10.30/35 percent.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 closed flat at 10.70/75 percent. (Colombo/Nov14/2019)
