Sri Lanka rupee ends weaker in spot next, gilt yields flat

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee closed weaker at 188.40/188.80 to the US dollar on Wednesday in the spot-next market while gilt yields remained unchanged in dull market trade, dealers said.

The rupee was quoted at 186.80/187.40 to the US dollar on Tuesday against the US dollar.

In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained flat in dull market trade, dealers said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 closed at 5.70/75 per cent on Wednesday, unchanged from Tuesday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 closed at 5.74/78 per cent on Wednesday, up from 5.72/78 per cent at the previous day’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 6.42/45 per cent, up from 6.40/45per cent from Tuesday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 closed at flat at 6.50/60 per cent from Tuesday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 closed at 6.73/83 per cent on Wednesday, up from 6.70/80 percent on previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 closed at 7.15/20 per cent flat from Tuesday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 closed flat at 7.23/30 per cent from Tuesday’s end.
