Sri Lanka rupee firmer at close, gilt yields gain
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee closed firmer at 181.20/30 to the US dollar on Thursday while bond yields gained marginally and stocks closed 0.55 percent higher, brokers and dealers said.
The rupee closed at 181.58/62 against the US dollar on Wednesday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 20.75 billion rupees, down from 23.65 billion rupees at Wednesday’s close.
In the secondary bond market, yields gained in moderate trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 closed at 8.68/75 on Thursday, gaining from 8.60/70 percent at Wednesday’s close.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 closed at 9.60/70 percent, up from 9.50/60 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 10.00/10.07 percent, gaining from 9.92/97 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2027 closed at 10.27/32 percent, up 10.23/27 percent. (Colombo/Oct31/2019)
