ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee guidance peg for interbank transactions edged down on Tuesday (16) while yields on Treasury bills and bonds little changed in dull trade on Tuesday (16) ahead of the weekly bill auction and central bank’s monetary policy rate announcement.
Sri Lanka’s central bank announced a guidance peg for interbank transactions weakened by 5 cents to 360.97 rupees against the US dollar on Tuesday from 360.92 rupees.
A bond maturing on 01. 06. 2025 closed at 28.00/28.30 percent on Tuesday, steady from 27.50/28.50 percent on the previous day with widened margin.
The 12 month bill closed at 28.30/29.30 percent up from previous close at 28.25/29.00 percent.
Data showed that commercial banks offered dollars for telegraphic transfers between 367.97 and 370.00 for small transactions.
