Sri Lanka rupee opens flat, stocks firmer
ECONOMYNET – Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at around 174.10/50 to the US dollar Monday around the same levels as Fridays closing, while the bond markets were also dull, as market participants awaited political developments, dealers said.
The rupee closed around 174.20/50 to the US dollar Friday.
Stocks were up 0.19 percent in the first half our of trading, with the Colombo All Share Index up 11 points to 6,103 points.
In bond markets a three-year bond maturing on 15.10.2021 was quoted at 11.00/11.20 percent in a dull market flat from Friday’s 11.00/15 percent levels, dealer said.
A five-year bond maturing on 15.07.2023 was quoted at 11.35/45 percent, around the same level as the previous day’s closing.
Tuesday is also a market holiday, contributing to dull sentiment, dealers said.
