ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at 181.10/30 to the US dollar on Thursday in the first hour of trading, while bond yields were flat and stocks opened 0.35 percent higher, brokers and dealers said.
Sri Lanka rupee closed 181.30/40 to the greenback on Tuesday.
In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 20.64 points to 5,908.98 and the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks was up 0.42 percent or 12.26 points to 2,934.61, in the first hour of trade.
The market turnover was 189 million rupees with 54 stocks gaining and 27 falling.
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka opened 40 cents up at 17.40 rupees a share, Dialog Axiata was up 30 cents to 12.20 rupees a share and Sri Lanka Telecom gained one rupee to 30.70 rupees a share, contributing to the rise of the ASPI.
In the secondary market, yields were flat in moderate trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 was quoted at 8.63/70 percent on Thursday.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 was quoted at 9.58/60 percent on Thursday, up from 9.55/60 percent on Wednesday.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted flat at 9.95/99 percent.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 was quoted unchanged at 10.67/73 percent. (Colombo/24Oct/2019)
