ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at 181.55/70 to the US dollar on Wednesday in the first hour of trading, while bond yields were flat and stocks opened 0.04 percent higher, brokers and dealers said.
Sri Lanka rupee closed 181.55/65 to the greenback on Tuesday.
In equities, Colombo’s All Share Price Index gained 3.21 points to 5,883.61 and the S&P SL20 of more liquid stocks was up 0.14 percent or 4.12 points to 2,930.89, in the first half-hour of trade.
The market turnover was 130 million rupees with 30 stocks gaining and 17 falling.
Hatton National Bank opened 1.00 rupee up at 176.00 rupees a share, LOLC Holdings was up 2.70 rupees to 117.00 rupees a share and Overseas Realty gained 30 cents to 15.30 rupees a share, contributing to the rise of the ASPI.
In the secondary market, yields were flat in dull trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 was quoted flat at 8.65/73 percent on Wednesday.
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 was quoted flat at 9.55/62 percent from Wednesday.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 9.98/10.00 percent, down from 10.00/10.02 on Tuesday’s close.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 was quoted unchanged at 10.67/73 percent. (Colombo/23Oct/2019)
