Sri Lanka rupee opens stronger, bond yields flat ahead of bond auction
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee was quoted stronger at 184.50/65 against the US dollar on Friday while bond yields were flat as the market awaits today’s bond auction, dealers said.
The rupee ended at 184.65/80 rupees against the greenback on Thursday.
In the secondary government securities markets, bond yields were flat from yesterday’s closing as the market awaits today’s bond auction, dealers said.
Sri Lanka’s debt office is offering up 100 billion rupees worth of bonds in an auction today.
A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted flat 5.45/50 per cent on Friday from Thursday’s closing.
A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted flat at 5.47/53 per cent, from yesterday’s close.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.00/05 per cent unchanged from previous day’s closing.
A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 was quoted at 6.30/38 per cent, unchanged from 6.30/40 per cent at the previous day’s closing.
A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted at 6.52/55 per cent, up from 6.50/53 per cent at its previous close on Thursday.
A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 6.82/85 per cent on Friday, up from 6.80/90 per cent at previous day’s closing.
A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 was quoted at 7.20/30 per cent, unchanged from the previous day’s closing. (Colombo/ Sep11/2020)
