Sri Lanka rupee opens weaker, bond yields stable

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee was quoted stronger at 184.25/40 against the US dollar on Tuesday while bond yields remained unchanged, dealers said.

The rupee ended at 184.10/30 rupees against the greenback on Monday.

In the secondary government securities markets, bond yields were flat, dealers said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted at5.45/55 per cent on Tuesday, stable from 5.45/50 per cent from Monday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted at 5.48/58 per cent, unchanged from its last close.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.00/10 per cent on Tuesday, stable from 6.00/05 per cent at previous day’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 was quoted at 6.35/42 per cent, unchanged from the previous day’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted at 6.55/59 per cent, stable from 6.55/60 per cent at its previous close on Monday.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 6.86/95 per cent on Tuesday, up from 6.85/95 per cent at previous day’s closing.

The new bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 7.05/09 per cent on Tuesday, steady from 7.05/08 per cent at Monday’s closing.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 was quoted at 7.20/30 per cent, unchanged from the previous day’s closing. (Colombo/ Sep15/2020)
