Sri Lanka rupee opens weaker, bonds flat
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted aorund 181.98/182.00 to the US dollar in mid morning trade Monday, weaker from Friday’s close and bond yeilds were flat, dealers said.
The rupee closed at 181.80/00 against the greenback in the spot market on Thursday.
Liquidity in the overnight money market was 17.99 billion rupees down from 30.30 billion rupees at Thursday’s close.
Banks deposited 26 billion rupees of excess liquidity at the central bank’s overnight window Friday. The central bank’s T-bill stock also fell from 88.9 billion rupees to 77.9 billion.

In the secondary bond market, gilt yields remained unchanged, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2021 was quoted at 8.75/85 percent unchanged from Friday..
A bond maturing 15.07.2023 was quoted at 9.82/90 percent from Friday’s 9.80/95 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 10.24/28 percent against 10.25/26 percent Fruday.
A 15-year bond maturing on 15.09.2034 was quote at 10.80/85 percent from Friday’s at 10.80/85 percent.
