Sri Lanka rupee opens weaker, gilts flat
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee opened weaker at 187.50/188.20 to the US dollar on Wednesday in the spot-next market while gilt yields remained steady in dull market trade, dealers said.
The rupee was quoted at 186.80/187.40 to the US dollar on Tuesday against the US dollar.
In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained steady in dull market trade, dealers said.
A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted at5.70/75per cent on Wednesday, unchanged from Tuesday’s closing.
A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted at 5.72/78percent on Wednesday unchanged from previous day’s closing.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.42/45percent, up from 6.40/45per cent from Tuesday’s end.
A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 was quoted at 6.55/75 per cent up from 6.50/60 per cent from Tuesday’s end.
A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted at 6.75/85 per cent on Wednesday, up from 6.70/80 percent on previous day’s end.
A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 7.15/20per cent flat from Tuesday’s end.
A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 7.25/30 percent steady from 7.23/30per cent at Tuesday’s end.
A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 was quoted at7.75/95 per cent flat fromTuesday’s closing. (Colombo/Dec 16/2020)
