Sri Lanka rupee quoted weaker, gilt yields steady
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee quoted weaker at 184.90/185.15 to the US dollar in the spot market on Monday while gilt yields flat in dull market trade, dealers said.
The rupee closed at 184.75/80 to the US dollar on Friday.
Sri Lanka placed five more areas under lockdown in the Capital Colombo while the other high-risk isolated areas in Colombo and Gampaha will continue.
A travel restriction out of the Western province is being lifted today.
In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained unchanged, dealers said.
A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted at 5.70/85 per cent on Monday, steady from 5.70/80 per cent at Friday’s closing.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.25/35 per cent on Monday, down from 6.28/35 per cent at the previous day’s end.
A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted at 6.65/75 per cent, steady from 6.65/70 per cent from yesterday’s closing.
A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 7.00/10 per cent on Monday, down from 7.02/10 per cent at the previous day’s end.
