Sri Lanka rupee quoted weaker, gilt yields unchanged

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee quoted weaker at 186.05/40 to the US dollar on Friday in the spot market while yields remained unchanged in dull market trade ahead of the bond auction, dealers said.

The rupee closed at 185.80/186.00 to the US dollar on Thursday against the US dollar.

In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained unchanged in dull market trade ahead of the bond auction, dealers said.

Sri Lanka’s debt office is offering 100 billion rupees in Treasury Bonds auction to be held on Friday.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted at 5.66/72 per cent on Friday, marginally down from 5.67/73 per cent at Thursday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted at 5.72/76 per cent, up from 5.70/77 per cent at Thursday’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.37/44 per cent on Friday, steady from 6.37/47 per cent at yesterday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 was quoted flat at 6.50/60 per cent.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted flat at 6.65/75 per cent from the previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 7.10/18 per cent on Friday, up from 7.08/18 per cent at Thursday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 was quoted at 7.22/27 per cent, slightly down from 7.23/27 per cent at Thursday’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 quoted flat at 7.55/75 per cent since Tuesday’s closing. (Colombo/December11/2020)
