Sri Lanka rupee quoted weaker, gilt yields up

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee was quoted weaker at 186.90/187.20 against the US dollar on Thursday while bond yields were up in active market trade, dealers said.

The rupee closed at 185.90/186.30 to the greenback on Monday.

In the secondary government securities markets, bond yields gained in active trade, dealers said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 was quoted at 5.57/60 per cent on Wednesday, up from 5.47/52 per cent at Wednesday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 was quoted at 5.60/65 per cent, gaining from 5.48/54 per cent at the previous closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 was quoted at 6.10/15 per cent on Thursday, up from Wednesday’s closing at 6.05/10 per cent.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 was quoted at 6.40/43 per cent on Thursday, up from 6.32/37 per cent at the previous day’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 was quoted at 6.52/60 per cent, gaining from 6.48/53 per cent at the previous close.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 was quoted at 6.95/7.03 per cent, up from 6.93/6.98 per cent at Wednesday’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 was quoted at 7.35/40 per cent, gaining from 7.25/33 per cent at the previous day’s closing. (Colombo/Aug20/2020)
