Sri Lanka says allocated Rs7.3bn for Coronavirus curfew relief
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has allocated 7.3 billion rupees to provide food for families in-home quarantine and poor families in curfew bound areas, the state information office said.
Sri Lanka is giving a 5,000 rupee allowance for poor families and a 10,000 rupee food hamper had been promised for families in-home quarantine.
For curfew struck poor families 2.71 billion rupees had been allocated for Gampaha district, 2.33 billion rupees for Colombo and 1.31 billion for Kaluthara.
Another 469 million rupees had been allocated for Kurunegala and 128 million for Batticaloa.
Treasury would make more allocations as requested by District Secretaries, the statement said. (Colombo/Nov04/2020)
