Sri Lanka says foreign debt higher than revealed
EconomyNext – Sri Lankan Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said the true state of the country’s foreign debt had been hidden from the people by the ousted Rajapaksa regime.
"The government debt does not reflect all the real debt taken," he tod parliament while presenting the government’s interim budget.
"The previous regime cosmetically kept foreign debt off balance sheet. The borrowings led to added burdens to the country."
The previous regime has falsified the data and presented a rosy picture to fool the people, he said.
