Sri Lanka SC re-fixes Rajapaksa appeal on quo warranto order for Friday
ECONOMYNEXT – An appeal filed in Supreme Court by Mahinda Rajapaksa after he was suspended from carrying out the duties of a Prime Minister by the Court of Appeal has been refixed for Friday, lawyers said.
When the case was first mentioned, a lawyer appearing for 122 legislators said who originally filed the case said they had not been noticed.
The Court of Appeal itself fixed for argument the original quo warranto case for January 16, 17 and 18.
Court vacation will start at the end of the week.
An order is also awaited on a petition challenging the dissolution of parliament by President Maithripala Sirisena, where arguments have been concluded.
