Sri Lanka Securities and Exchange Commission draft bill cleared

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers had cleared a draft of a Securities and Exchange Commission bill to be submitted to the parliament for approval, the state information office said.

“The bill drafted accordingly by the Legal Draftsman has also received the clearance of the Attorney General,” the information office said.

“Accordingly, the proposal made by the Prime Minister in his capacity as the Minister of Finance to publish the Bill in Government Gazette and to submit it to Parliament for approval, was approved by the Cabinet.”

Sri Lanka’s existing SEC law had been amended several times. (Colombo/June09/2021)
