Sri Lanka sells Rs55bn 2024, 2027 bonds after offering Rs75bn
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has sold 55.3 billion rupees of bonds in an auction after offering 25 billion rupees, data from the state debt office showed.
The debt office sold 30.53 billion rupees of 01.12.2024 bonds to yield 6.34 percent, after offering 50 billion rupees.
The debt office also sold 25 billion rupees of 15.08.2027 bonds at to yield 7.16 percent after offering 25 billion rupees.
On January 22, Sri Lanka sold 1 year dollar bonds at 6.89 percent, 15 bond dollar bonds at 6.85 percent and 2-year bonds at 6.92 percent as dollar yields outstripped rupee yields in the domestic market, turning forward premiums negative.
The bonds have to be settled on February 01.
Though less than the offer volume was sold, there were no maturing bonds.
Market participants estimated that about 35 billion rupees of coupons were due on the date. (Colombo/Jan28/2021)
