ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has set up 108 special examination centers for the Covid positive children across the country to sit for the grade 5 Scholarship exams on Saturday (22), the island nation’s Examination Department said.
The examination, which was postponed at least by five months, is to be held on January 22, 2022 from 0930 am to 1215 pm.
L. M. D. Dharmasena, the Commissioner General of Examinations said a total of 340,508 students will be sitting for the exams in 2943 exam halls island wide.
He said, an additional 108 examination centers also have been prepared zonal wise for Covid positive children.
“These have been informed to the School Principals as well as it is available in our web site as well,” Dharmasena said at a media briefing on Wednesday (19).
However, any Covid-positive student can go to any of the 108 centers, he said.
“Go to the hall closest to your house, as the examination department we have prepared everything for the child to face the exam without any difficulties,” he said.
Commissioner of Exams, Amith Jayasundara said the Children will not be directed by the respective school if the they are found to be Covid positive and the parents must take such children to the halls dedicated for Covid positive candidates in the area after informing the school and the district Medical officer of Health office.
“Even if the child is under quarantine, there is no need to worry. You can face the test,” Jayasundara said.
“For the people who get sick during the exams and the people who are in quarantine, there is a special exam hall for them in their exam centers.”
Chithramalee de Silva, Director of Family Health Bureau requested the parents to send necessary personal belongings to the examination hall with the students including pens, pencils, erasers and water bottles to avoid using others’ belongings. (Colombo/Jan 21/2022)
