ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka shares gain in mid-day trade on Tuesday (22) after slipping for six session as investors bought beaten down shares however on thin volumes.
The main All Share Price Index gained 1.73 percent or 134.50 points to 7,911.52 at 1130 hours.
“We may see market move to green because the index fell continuously for close to a week however this is not an indication of a recovery as there’s a lot of selling pressure,” an analyst said.
Most liquid index S&P SL20 gained 2.59 percent or 61.36 points to 2,427.91.
Market generated a turnover of 777 million rupees.
Top gainers were Expolanka, Lanka IOC and Carson Cumberbatch. (Colombo/Nov22/2022)
