ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s shares rose over 1.5% in mid-day trade on Wednesday (23), pushed up by index heavy shares, for the second day straight.
Colombo Stock Exchange data shows, the main All Share Price Index (ASPI) gained 1.75% or 140.33 points to 8,140.77 at 1130 hours.
Previously the market slipped for six straight sessions, on speculation of a local debt restructuring and while investors waited for clear direction despite the country presenting its 2023 budget.
The most liquid index S&P SL20 1.56% or 38.34 points to 2493.30.
Market generated a turnover of 811 million rupees.
Top gainers were Richard Pieris and Company, Melstacorp and Browns Investments. (Colombo/Nov23/2022)
