The main All Share Price Index gained 2.51 percent or 248.74 points to 10,162.86 at 1100 hours.
“The market moved mainly on John Keells Holdings following the gazette on 20-year casino licenses,” a market analyst said.
Sri Lanka’s President on Wednesday (14) issued a gazette allowing casino licenses to be issued for 20-years but the operations are to be conducted in an orderly and platonic manner.
Most liquid S&P SL20 rose 3.01 percent or 95.61 points to 3,275.40.
Market generated a turnover of 3.1 billion rupees.
