Sri Lanka Speaker dodges decision on opposition leader
COLOMBO (EconomyNext) – Parliamentary Speaker Chamal Rajapakse today deferred a decision on calls to replace Nimal Siripala de Silva as the leader of the Opposition.
"I will give a ruling on it in due course," Rajapakse told parliament. "But, I can’t say when I will give my ruling."
At the start of the day’s proceedings, a faction of the United People’s Freedom Alliance demanded that Dinesh Gunawardene should replace de Silva.
